Reflexology
Reflexology is a specific pressure technique that works on precise reflex points on the hands or feet, based on the principle that these reflex points correspond to particular organs, glands and structures in the body.
Reflexology is a natural non-invasive therapy to help boost the immune system and reduce stress by creating a sense of overall well-being and balance.
Types of Reflexology
Feet
Gentle pressure is applied to the reflex points on the feet which correspond to organs in the body. If a reflex is tender, it usually indicates that the reflex is out of balance. The aim of a reflexologist is to relieve the symptoms presented in the body, to promote relaxation and restore balance in the body systems.
Hands
Hand reflexology offers an alternative to foot reflexology and is ideal when working with children and elderly clients. Hand reflexology is self-empowering as it can be used to self-treat between appointments. It works by freeing up the energy zones of the body and like foot reflexology it invokes a sense of relaxation and peace.
Face
Facial reflexology aims to help your entire body function at its optimal level. It promotes a more radiant and glowing complexion which has positive emotional benefits. The face's proximity to the brain is key to the effectiveness of manipulating facial reflex points which directly connect to the body's neural pathways. Facial reflexology focuses on reflex points on the face and encourages the release of toxins via the lymphatic system.
Spinal
Back pain affects around 3/4 of adults at some point in their life. Back pain and injury can be caused by the simplest of tasks and can cause a cycle of pain and muscle spasm. This powerful form of refelxology is based on stimulating the spinal reflexes on the feet. A treatment stimulates each vertebra and aims to identify spinal nerve roots out of balance.
Menopause Support
During her lifetime a woman will go through myriad hormonal changes; the development of female sexuality, menstruation, fertility, through to the onset of menopause. Reflexology is here to support women during these stages and help with any associated issues.
Pre-conception & pregnancy
Reflexology & pregnancy go very well together! Reflexology can help to balance the hormones, regulate periods & ovulation, ease pregnancy related problems such as, back pain, tiredness & sleep patterns. It can offer support to achieve a natural labour & reduce labour time.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Reflexology uses a variety of different sized smooth basalt stones to work a specific reflex.
The warm stones relax the body at a wonderfully deep level reaching deeper into the superficial layer of muscle.
Large stones are used to warm and massage the legs and feet, small stones to work reflex points and more specific areas. It is estimated that one stroke of a hot stone is worth five strokes of a hand!
The basalt stones are known for retaining their heat for long periods of time. This is an extremely relaxing treatment which is both soothing and nurturing; relieving the effects of stress and tension.
